‘CHAK DE’ is a media and journalism portal for the Indian interest in Melbourne.
We are a unique group among the Desi Junta living in Melbourne who share a passion for informing, entertaining, educating and advising our fellow Indians through quality journalism. We’re outrageously proud of this venture of ours!
Chak De India has been created as an online portal that doubles up as a monthly magazine. Our distribution network ensures that there is one near you.
Why this Kolaveri di? Why are we doing this?
A year ago, we picked up an ‘Indian magazine’ from our Nukkad-waala grocery store and found it to be trash. We picked up some other magazines from other stores and found them to be worse.
This project aims to fix this.
We want to engage our fellow Desi Junta through a portal where they connect to what is happening in and around Melbourne. Thoughts are exchanged, discussions pursued and people get fresh bahanas to ‘meet and greet’!
From this day, trust us to pleasantly surprise your eyes with top content you can relate to. It is the first desi magazine in Melbourne with the right blend of timepass, non-overboard journalism, jugaads, interviews, hangout places, diligent reviews and sharing some real masti maza…all blended into a mix of desi flavour.
So, Whats on the Menu?
Every edition of Chak De India gives you a handful of fresh concepts to try out in your daily lives.
We feature some out-of-the-box ideas for being smarter than the system in our Jugaad blog. Pammi aunty and her team of chefs shares with us some tried and tested Indo-Aussie recipes. Style splash gives you the festive look on a desi budget. We find out some classic hangout spot in our own backyards. On top of that, we have music and movie reviews (with a twist), eating out places and a party playlist of top songs every month.
We inform you and cover your Janta-Party at all desi events of the month with details about what was good and what was overhyped for next time. Up close and personal, we interview the known-and-unknown personalities who are contributing to the Indian cause. Be it live entertainment to community happenings, we keep you updated by people in the know.
We also have our regular columnists who will entertain, educate and enlighten us with some experiences we’d better know through their keyboards.
Last but not the least; we love to take on board all your suggestions, recommendations, love-hate and feedback on how we performed. YOU are our content advisors and we are developing all the time, thanks to you.

Atif and Shreya kick start the album with lovely Piya O Re Piya, this is something that Atif does the best. Track repeats as a sad version too.
Next one is again a kind of track that Mohit Chauhan excels in. Jeene De with Qawwali arrangements, sounds pretty good.
The film’s title track – ‘Pee Pa Pee Pa Ho Gaya’ – is a foot tapping number and has been rendered by Diljit Dosanjh and Priya Panchal. With a great Punjabi element to it, this peppy number is also available in a desi-mix version in the album.
Atif comes back with Monali Thakur & Priya Panchal, in Tu Mohabbat Hai, yet another mushy track, not as impressive as Piya, yet charms.
And after all this, what’s left? Yes, an item number. Sunidhi and Kailash Kher’s Fann Ban Gayi is nothing special to go ga-ga about, except the fact that it must be good fun sequence in the movie.
